Proof Of The Power Of Listbuilders
There are many Listbuilders on the internet today. If you understand how to use them effectively, the benefits are immense. Sometimes they are referred to as traffic generators.
Listbuilders are great for any internet marketer, no matter what stage your business is at. If you have a small list they can make a huge difference to your success. They give you new places to email your offers and promote programs and products. Using them increases your chances of signups, building your own list and sales.
I have been using Listbuilders extensively in my own business, with amazing results. To show you just how powerful they can be, I will use giveaways as an example. The beauty of using giveaways to test Listbuilders means you can grow your own list at the same time.
In June, I was involved with a giveaway called “World Cup Giveaway 2010″. It was run by David Walker and Paul Wilson. By using purely Listbuilders, I was able to invite the most contributors before the Giveaway launched and came 3rd overall once the Giveaway closed. I am fairly new to internet marketing and my list is relatively small. At the time it was approximately 500 subscribers. My list has more than doubled now.
Here are some screenshots to show you my placings. As you can see I am ahead of quite a few well known marketers.

For my efforts at this giveaway I earnt $65 for being an upgraded member. For placing 3rd overall, at the end, I won $125. Not bad considering I used Listbuilders to achieve this.
I have repeated my method with a giveaway I am involved in at the moment, “Original Products Giveaway – St Swithins Day Special“. This giveaway has not yet finished, so I will keep you posted.
As you can see, I have invited the most contributors using Listbuilders. So far to date, I have earnt $82 from being an upgraded contributor and won $33 so far. I also won a $147 Guru Minisite Graphics Package.
How Did I Achieve This?
Once I discovered what Listbuilders could do, I joined as many as possible. I made sure I mailed every time each one allowed me. I keep note of when each one is due so I know where I can send my emails each day. Remember, when using Listbuilders the no spamming rules still apply. To achieve the above results, I only mailed each one once maybe twice about the specific giveaways.
The most important factor to keep in mind is FOCUS. I have my own Giveaway Announcer which lists all the giveaways available at any time. So, I regularly join all giveaways, but only upgrade with the one that I want to focus on. As you can see the two giveaways above are held in different months. So, in June, I focused on promoting the World Cup Giveaway. When that giveaway was finished, I focused on promoting the Original Products Giveaway.
A lot of people may be scared off by joining a lot of Listbuilders because of the amount of emails that will fill your inbox. I have learnt to look past this. Some Listbuilders require you to click for credits, while other don’t (personally I have found that those without credit clicking requirements are more responsive, but this may not be true for everyone). Of course, you don’t want spend you day clicking for credits. When a Listbuilder is ready to use for mailing and requires me to click for credits, I search my inbox, at that time, and click for those then. Once I have clicked for the credits I delete those emails. Soon, it becomes easy to sort the important emails, that you want to receive, from those you received from Listbuilders.
Many of the available Listbuilders will give you a mailing list as a free member. Of course, if you upgrade your emails will reach more people. Don’t be tempted or it will become a very expensive venture. Only upgrade if you are offered a considerable discount. Once you are more financially stable and making a decent profit in your business, then fill free to upgrade at some that are going to offer you the most benefits.
After awhile you will be able to gauge which Listbuilders are giving you the most signups because, they will usually only come within a few hours of mailing. Of course, there will be residual signups continuing after that as some recipients are late at opening their emails.
Below I have provided a link to a page that contains all the Listbuilders to which I belong:
Please let me apologise upfront for all the flashing banners, that seems to be the trend these days.
If there are any Listbuilders that you are a member of, that I have not included, please feel free to send your link to suzanne@monkeyheadcafe.com and I will join under you (of course, it will be on a “first in first served” basis).
The examples I have used are giveaways but, this will work for other kinds of offers, e.g. affiliate marketing, an offer to build your own list, etc. Just remember, to make this work effectively, the most important factor is FOCUS. I cannot stress this enough. My own internet marketing business has been steadily growing because of focus. Make sure you focus on only one promotion at a time (two at the most if you must). It can be tempting to try and promote everything that comes your way e.g. product launches, giveaways, other affiliate offers, etc. but you will spread yourself too thin. Believe me, from experience, you get nowhere doing this.
I hope I have succeeded in opening your eyes to the power of using Listbuilders.
Good Luck in all your future endeavours.

Hi Suzanne,
Thanks for emailing me about this post, it’s great to see how you managed to have such an impact on the recent giveaway I co-hosted with Paul.
While I could see using those programs to build numbers in giveaway events, I’d be wary of relying on them to build your own list because I doubt those leads will be of the best quality.
I have had lots of unubscribers from the two giveaways I have ran and pounding about 30 list builder websites everyday without getting a whole lot in return would be quite soul-destroying.
But, if you could outsource the promotion side of things cheaply enough and rank well in jv giveaways and product pre-launches which pay out cash bonuses for the best lead generators, there could be some easy money to be made there.
David
Thanks David for your comments.
Yes the quality of leads can be a concern. This can be common with giveaways as some of the signups are only there to grab what they can for free. This leads to some who sign up for a gift opting out straightaway. There are those who are impressed enough to hang around and they are the quality leads. Relationship building in your followup emails can be what makes the difference…and a quality download of course.
As far as the amount of mailers I can use a day, it usually averages about 10 at most, If you can space them right when you join.
Let me know when you are ready to run another giveaway, David ( I know you are having a break from it), as you can count on me to promote it
